The Herdade do Sobroso is a true hidden gem, a wine and luxury boutique hotel located in the unique Alentejo landscape full of history and now strongly influenced by its proximity to the largest artificial lake in Europe. Location

The Herdade do Sobroso, in the heart of Portugal’s largest wine producing region, the Alentejo, is within driving distance of Lisbon and Faro airports and just under an hour’s drive from Evora and the medieval towns of Mertola and Monsaraz.  For water-based activities the nearby Alqueva lake offers a whole host of activities including hunting, fishing, watersports and boat rides.  Also available to enjoy in the area are hot air balloon rides, hiking and mountain biking, horse riding, photography safaris and helicopter excursions.

Facilities

The hotel offers a beautiful porch area where guests can relax and a stunning outside terrace dining area. The restaurant is based on the concept of ‘farm to table’ and offers the best of traditional Alentejo gastronomy paired with the estate’s excellent wines.  The organic garden produces aromatic herbs, strawberries, peppers, lettuces and tomatoes amongst other produce, all of which is used by the chef to create stunningly fresh and elegant meals. The infinity pool is the perfect place to relax and unwind with spectacular views over the Alentejo countryside.
