Upon arrival in Porto, check into your preferred room grade at the 5* Yeatman Hotel. In the evening, a gastronomic dinner paired with wines will be served in the hotel’s double Michelin-starred restaurant. The restaurant has stunning views over the River Douro and over Porto’s historic centre.
After breakfast on day two, take a five minute walk to Taylor’s Port Lodge. Founded in 1692, Taylor’s was one of the first British Port Houses to be created. Here, you will be taken on a private guided tour of the cellars. At the end of the tour, you will enjoy an extensive tasting of nine Ports, including a single harvest and four tawnies. Roasted almonds, bread and olive oil will be served to complement your tasting. After such an enlightening experience, your private guide will take you to your second tasting at a Port House of your own choosing. There are several options in Vila Nova de Gaia subject to your preference and availability, including Grahams, Croft and Sandeman. We would be pleased to discuss the various options with you and contact the individual estates accordingly.
Your third tasting experience will be at a family-owned Port House. This particular house stands as a testament to heritage, being one of the rare establishments still owned by a Portuguese family from its founding days. Here you’ll enjoy a private tour and tasting of the winemakers favourite Douro DOC wines and Ports. At the end of your visit, your driver will take you to Porto, where you will indulge in an unforgettable food tour on a private basis. This culinary adventure is more than just a tour; it’s an invitation to savour the heart and soul of Portuguese gastronomy. Wander through the city’s bustling streets, discovering the most authentic tascas, traditional eateries cherished by locals. Experience the genuine flavours and culinary marvels that define Porto’s culinary legacy. After such a delightful experience, your driver will be waiting to take you back to the hotel.
If you opt for the four-day break, your morning begins with a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, followed by a chance to unwind and enjoy the hotels facilities, if desired. Your driver will then return to take you to Graham’s Port House Lodge. A delicious five course lunch will then be served in Graham’s Vinum restaurant. The restaurant has a lovely terrace with spectacular views across Porto and the Douro. After lunch, you will be taken on a private tour of the Port House. Your visit will conclude with a tasting session of three tawnies in Graham’s tasting room.
After an enriching tour and a delightful lunch, you’ll have some free time to explore independently. You will then be taken to Porto where you’ll savour a delightful wine tasting experience at a quaint wine bar in the heart of Porto. Your tasting will include a selection of Portugal’s finest wines, offering a flavourful journey beyond Port wine and the Douro Valley, alongside a variety of local cheeses, charcuterie, and other Portuguese delicacies. At the end of the visit you will be taken back to your hotel.
During your leisure time, we highly recommend exploring the WOW – Cultural District, a mere 5-minute walk from your hotel. This district is a paradise for wine enthusiasts, featuring fantastic wine bars, cellars, and stunning tasting rooms. You’ll also find captivating museums that showcase Porto’s winemaking history and craftsmanship. These museums offer an engaging and educational experience, offering insights into Portugal’s remarkable culture. You’ll also find excellent restaurants throughout the district. The relaxed ambiance, diverse wine selection, cultural richness, and gastronomic options at WOW make it an ideal destination to fully immerse yourself in Portugal’s winemaking heritage and culinary delights, all conveniently situated near our hotel.
For those seeking to explore the wonders of the Douro Valley, we suggest a five day break. You will be taken on an amazing eight-hour private cruise along the stunning Douro river. The Douro region is a classified UNESCO World Heritage site, a well-deserved recognition of its traditions and its exceptional wine producing heritage. You’ll depart from Folgosa Pier and will have the opportunity to admire a breath-taking landscape and the unique steep terraces covered in vines. We have included return private transfers between the hotel and the boat which will be waiting for you in the Douro Valley. You will stop at two different Quintas on the way. Both Quintas will offer different experiences and you will be able to visit the estates and enjoy tastings of their wines. A traditional lunch will be served at one of the estates. Please note that you will be picked up at the hotel at approximately 8.00 am and will be dropped back at approximately 8.30 pm.

The Yeatman was fantastic! Very plush, a real top flight hotel, but with such a delightful and relaxed staff who were so eager to please and nothing was too much trouble. I could get quite used to luxury like that! The room was superb with a great view of the Douro and the old town - but then, all the rooms have the same great view. Breakfast was stunning and served in a delightful dining room with the same superb views. The pools - outdoor and indoor - were to die for!

There are direct flights from London Gatwick (Easyjet and TAP Portugal), London Stansted (Ryanair) and Liverpool (Ryanair) from the UK to Porto airport (OPO). Grape Escapes is ATOL registered, number 10831 and we would be happy to book your flights at cost, however a booking fee of £50 per person applies.
The airport is situated around 20 minutes’ drive from the city centre and there are always taxis waiting at arrivals.

Just a note to let you know how pleased I/we all were with our wine tour in Porto. Our guide could not have been nicer, our vehicle was great; the wine tours were wonderful as was the lunch and the private river tour.
