Our three- and four- day essential breaks based in central Marseille allow for the ultimate whistle-stop discovery of the region and some of the wines that surround it.
Upon your arrival, check into your standard room at the 4* Hotel La Résidence du Vieux-Port. Room upgrades are available upon request. The hotel is ideally located in the Old Port, right in the heart of the city.
After you’ve settled in, discover the city at sunset on a food tour with a local guide. As part of a small group, you’ll embark on a walking tour to sample some of the best foodie spots around the city, in particular, the trendy Notre Dame du Mont area.
On day two, after breakfast at the hotel, you’ll make your way to a meeting point in central Marseille to begin your full-day wine experience in Provence. Led by a knowledgeable wine expert, you’ll travel by comfortable minivan into the beautiful Côteaux d’Aix-en-Provence wine region. During the day, you’ll visit three organic wineries, where you’ll discover local winemaking traditions and enjoy tastings of the region’s signature wines, including white, red, and the iconic Provence rosé. This small-group tour offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, making it perfect for both seasoned wine enthusiasts and those new to wine tasting. You will also enjoy some free time in Aix-en-Provence as part of the tour so you can explore the charming town at your own pace and enjoy lunch (not included in the price), while soaking up the authentic Provençal ambiance.
After a memorable day in the countryside, you’ll return to Marseille in the late afternoon. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a three-course meal with drinks at a lively city-centre restaurant
If you opt for the four-day break, your stay continues the following day with the opportunity to explore further afield on a full-day small group wine tour to Bandol and Cassis.
Meeting your English-speaking guide at a central departure point in Marseille, you’ll begin your journey towards the Bandol AOP, a region renowned for its fresh, fruit-driven rosé wines. Here, you’ll enjoy a tasting in a private cellar, gaining further insight into the character and traditions of the area.
At lunchtime, you’ll have free time to explore the hilltop village of Le Castellet, where you can enjoy lunch at leisure (not included) while taking in sweeping views over the surrounding vineyards.
In the afternoon, you’ll continue to Cassis, a picturesque coastal town known for its charming harbour and the spectacular Calanques National Park. You’ll enjoy a further wine tasting at a local estate before some free time to wander the village and soak up the atmosphere.
You’ll return to Marseille in the early evening, where the remainder of your evening is at leisure. We would be delighted to arrange a restaurant reservation for you if desired.
On your final morning, after breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and depart at your leisure.
