Trip Summary

Luxury Sherry Tasting Jerez Tour

Nestled in the heart of Andalusia, Jerez de la Frontera is the ideal setting for a short yet immersive escape into the world of Sherry. Famous for its elegant architecture, traditional tabancos, and century-old bodegas, Jerez offers a unique opportunity to discover the soul of this historic wine region.

Over the course of three days, you’ll explore its atmospheric streets, taste a variety of exceptional sherries, and experience the rich culture that makes this city so captivating. If you opt for the four-day package, your journey will continue into the broader Sherry Triangle, with visits to Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María. These charming coastal towns offer a deeper insight into the region’s diversity, from ocean-influenced Manzanilla to rare VORS treasures, providing a more complete and enriching exploration of Andalusia’s iconic wine heritage.

Check into your preferred room at Hotel Casa Palacio María Luisa and admire the timeless elegance of this Belle Époque mansion. The rest of the day is then free for you to explore independently. Jerez is a city full of charm, where cobbled lanes open into sun-drenched plazas lined with orange trees, lively cafés, and traditional tabancos. Wander through its historic centre at your own pace, discovering centuries-old architecture and the laid-back Andalusian lifestyle.

In the evening, a tasting menu will be served at a celebrated two Michelin-starred restaurant, offering a memorable introduction to the region’s cuisine. Each course is thoughtfully curated to reflect the flavours of Andalusia, and you’ll have the option to pair your dinner with a selection of outstanding local and international wines. This elegant dining experience is the perfect way to begin your sherry tasting Jerez journey.

After breakfast at the hotel on the morning of day two, your private English-speaking driver will meet you at your hotel ready for the first full day of your sherry tasting Jerez tour. They will accompany you throughout the day on a private basis. Although some of the distances between the hotel and the wineries are short, the weather in Jerez can be very hot, particularly during the summer months. For your convenience and comfort, we have included a private driver to ensure a smooth and relaxing experience.

The day is dedicated to discovering the sherry bodegas of central Jerez. You’ll be welcomed as a private guest at each estate, offering a more personal and exclusive experience. Your day begins with a visit to a prestigious boutique winery renowned for its exceptional aged sherries and impressive private art gallery, which houses original works by some of Spain’s most famous masters, including Zurbarán, El Greco, Velázquez, and Goya. After the visit, enjoy a leisurely lunch of traditional Andalusian tapas, thoughtfully accompanied by the estate’s signature wines.

Later, you’ll visit Bodegas Fundador, home to Harvey’s Sherry, for a guided tour of their historic cellars. In the afternoon, you’ll be welcomed at a lesser-known boutique bodega for an additional tour and tasting, offering a different perspective on the craftsmanship behind Jerez’s most iconic wine.

Following the visit, you’ll have time to return to your hotel to freshen up before heading out for a private tapas tour led by a local guide, born and bred in Jerez and a true wine enthusiast. As you stroll through the city’s atmospheric streets, your guide will take you to their favourite tabancos and hidden gems, where you’ll enjoy a variety of traditional Andalusian small plates paired with local wines. This relaxed and personal experience offers a genuine taste of Jerez’s culinary culture and vibrant local life. After the tour, the evening is yours to continue exploring or unwind at your hotel.

If you opt for the four-day package, your English-speaking private driver will return to take you to the coastal town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, the birthplace of Manzanilla and a key part of the Sherry Triangle. Today’s visits will be conducted on a private basis, ensuring a relaxed and personalised experience.

Your day begins with a private visit to the vineyards, where you’ll gain insight into the native grape varieties, distinctive albariza soils, and the unique Atlantic influence that shapes these elegant wines. From there, continue to the producer’s cellars in the heart of Sanlúcar to explore the ageing process that defines Manzanilla sherry. The visit concludes with a leisurely lunch, with each course paired with the estate’s finest Manzanillas.

In the afternoon, you’ll continue to El Puerto de Santa María, a charming port town known for its vibrant seafood scene and deep maritime sherry heritage. Here, you will enjoy a private visit and tasting at a breathtaking winery housed within the walls of the historic Castillo de San Marcos – an unforgettable setting that beautifully captures the grandeur and history of the region.

You’ll return to Jerez in the late afternoon, with free time to freshen up at your hotel before heading out once again to enjoy an authentic Flamenco performance. The show takes place in a unique and atmospheric venue and includes a drink, offering a captivating window into one of Spain’s most iconic cultural traditions. After the performance, the evening is yours to dine at leisure. We would be pleased to recommend a local restaurant and reserve you a table.

On your final morning, after a leisurely breakfast, check out of your hotel.
