Trip Summary

Sherry Triangle Tour from Jerez de la Frontera

Jerez de la Frontera, considered by many the capital of Sherry, offers the perfect base for an indulgent journey through Spain’s famous Sherry Triangle. With its blend of Moorish architecture, lively plazas, and deep-rooted wine heritage, this charming town invites you to slow down, savour, and immerse yourself in the art of living well.

Upon arrival in the region, check into your preferred room grade at the Hotel Bodega Tio Pepe. This hotel is the ultimate base for an extensive Sherry Triangle tour from Jerez, as it is also home to one of the most famous sherry bodegas: Tío Pepe. By way of introduction to the region, you’ll embark on a relaxed tasting experience, beginning the trip as you mean to go on with a glass of their legendary Tío Pepe Fino.

Your first evening will be free for you to spend as you please and enjoy your surroundings. You may wish to wander into the city centre and soak up the lively atmosphere, getting a feel for the Andalusian way of life. Your Grape Escapes specialist will be more than happy to recommend you a local restaurant for dinner and perhaps reserve you a table.

Day two of your Sherry Triangle tour will be focused on the sherry bodegas of the capital of the region: Jerez. Due to the convenient location of your hotel, you will be able to set out to your visits on foot, discovering the cobbled lanes and lively plazas of Jerez as you go. Over the course of the day, you will learn all about the different styles of sherry, and the craftsmanship that goes into producing each fortified wine.

Your first visit of the day will be at a prestigious boutique winery which offers a chance to taste exceptional aged sherries while exploring a fascinating private art collection featuring works by Spanish masters such as Zurbarán, Velázquez and Goya. Following this, you’ll venture to Bodegas Fundador, home to Harvey’s Sherry, for a guided tour of their historic cellars followed by a leisurely lunch paired with their finest wines.

In the evening, you will enjoy an authentic Andalusian Flamenco performance in a unique and atmospheric venue, which was formerly a working winery. The show offers a captivating insight into one of Spain’s most iconic cultural traditions and will be accompanied by a drink. After the performance, you will have free time to dine at your leisure. Should you wish, we would be delighted to recommend a local restaurant and reserve you a table.

On day three of your Sherry Triangle tour, you will be met at your hotel by an English-speaking driver who will accompany you for the day on a private basis. Today, you will head to the coastal town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda – the birthplace of Manzanilla and a key part of the Sherry Triangle. It’s also known for its fruit trees, vineyards, and excellent seafood.

You’ll begin the day in the vineyards, learning how the native Palomino grape and the Atlantic breeze come together to create this wonderfully saline, bone-dry style of Sherry. After a cellar visit and tasting, you’ll sit down to a relaxed lunch where each dish is thoughtfully paired with Manzanilla. In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a visit to another local bodega for a final tasting before returning to Jerez in the afternoon. Dinner is not included, but we would be happy to recommend a few restaurants, there is no shortage of great options within walking distance of your hotel.

After a leisurely breakfast on day four, your driver will return to take you to El Puerto de Santa María, a charming port town celebrated for its sandy beaches and maritime sherry heritage. Begin your day with a tasting at a winery housed within the walls of a medieval castle, which makes for an incredibly unique experience and an insight into the region’s rich history.

After your visit, you’ll have free time to wander the town, explore the bustling local market, and enjoy lunch independently. A trip to the Andalusian coast would not be complete without some seafood: we particularly recommend the langostinos de Sanlúcar (king prawns), almejas a la marinera (clams in white wine sauce), or atún encebollado (tuna with sweet onions), all made with the freshest catch of the day. Your driver will be more than happy to recommend some of the best local spots.

In the afternoon, you’ll visit another highly regarded producer for a tasting of rare, long-aged VORS sherries, before returning to Jerez.

For your final night, we’ve planned a private guided tapas tour through Jerez’s traditional tabancos. Your guide, a local expert with a true love for her city and sherry, will lead you to her favourite spots, where you’ll enjoy a variety of Andalusian small plates in venues brimming with local character. The perfect way to say goodbye to Jerez!

On your final morning, after a leisurely breakfast check out of your hotel.
