Trip Summary

In the evening, enjoy a gastronomic dinner at the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, the dishes are thoughtfully paired with some of the region’s finest wines, a perfect introduction to the flavours of Northern Portugal.

On the morning of day two, you will be met at your hotel by a private English-speaking driver, who will accompany you throughout the day for the first full day of your Exclusive Vinho Verde wine tasting tour. Your first visit will be at Quinta da Raza, a family-run estate set among breathtaking vineyards. Known for its dedication to quality wines and a winner of many international competitions, Quinta da Raza is also known for its warm hospitality. Here, you’ll enjoy a private tasting of their Family Collection wines, followed by a scenic picnic lunch in a peaceful vineyard setting, the perfect way to savour traditional Portuguese flavours in an idyllic setting.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a private, hands-on blending workshop at a nearby estate. You’ll taste the region’s key grape varieties and create your own bespoke Vinho Verde blend, which you’ll bottle and label to take home as a special gift.

You will then return to your hotel for a free evening to explore Amarante at your own pace. We would be delighted to recommend and reserve a table at one of our favourite restaurants in the city centre, or you may prefer to dine at the hotel.

For those opting for the four-day package, after a leisurely breakfast and a relaxed morning enjoying the hotel’s facilities, your driver will return to take you to a dynamic, younger winery offering a modern take on Vinho Verde winemaking.

Following a guided tasting, you’ll enjoy a relaxed lunch of petiscos (Portuguese tapas) before continuing to Guimarães. Often described as the birthplace of Portugal, this charming city has beautifully preserved its medieval architecture and holds deep historical significance. Now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Guimarães occupies a special place in the heart of the nation.

Upon arrival in Guimarães, you’ll be met by a private guide for a walking tour through the city’s charming streets, where stories of Portugal’s first kings and the founding of the nation will be shared along the way.

Having wandered the cobbled streets and heard the tales of kings, you’ll be ready to enjoy an unforgettable meal at one of the city’s Michelin-starred restaurants, a perfect close to your Exclusive Vinho Verde wine tasting journey through this spectacular region in Portugal’s northwest.

After dinner your driver will take you back to your hotel where you will spend one final night before check out on day four.

Day Three (Optional) of your Exclusive Vinho Verde Wine Tasting Tour

• After a leisurely breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning to unwind and make the most of the hotel’s facilities.
• Your driver will return to take you to a younger, family-owned winery that brings a fresh, modern approach to Vinho Verde winemaking. Here, you’ll enjoy a guided tasting followed by a relaxed lunch of petiscos (Portuguese tapas).
• After lunch, continue to Guimarães. Here, enjoy a private walking tour through the city’s historic centre.
• Following the visit, you’ll enjoy a gastronomic dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant thoughtfully paired with wines from the surrounding region.
• After dinner, your driver will be waiting to return you to your hotel.

• The below prices are per person and based on two people travelling together and sharing a twin or double room.
• These prices are realistic guide prices, based on travel in standard season (usually April to the end of October). Discounts often apply for travel during out of season (usually November to the end of March) or if there are more than two of you travelling together. Please let us know your preferred travel dates for a definitive price.
• Although we propose specific hotels as part of our standard packages, we enjoy excellent relationships and preferential rates at the majority of the hotels in each of our featured destinations. Therefore if you would prefer to stay in a different hotel, this can be arranged. Please contact us for the relevant supplements/discounts.
• Other room grades are available at most of the hotels that we work with. Just let us know which hotel you prefer and we will send you the relevant supplements for the various room grades.
• Single supplements and extra night prices are available upon request.
