Set right in the bustling heart of Dijon’s historic city centre, the Hostellerie du Chapeau Rouge is a 4* hotel in a building dating back to 1863. Each of its 28 rooms and suites are decorated in a clean, contemporary style, and down in the hotel’s vaulted cellar, guests will find a relaxing wellness space with treatment rooms, a hammam, sauna and hydromassage shower jets. Perhaps most significantly for the food lovers, the hotel also boasts a double Michelin-starred restaurant, thus it plays a major role in the region’s fine cuisine.
First established more than 150 years ago as the Grand Hôtel du Globe et Rome, Hôtel Globe et Cecil is today a modern, boutique 4* hotel. Set in a prime location on the Presqu’île, just steps from Place Bellecour and the Old Town, this location is the perfect point from which to venture out and discover the delights of France’s gastronomic capital. Rooms are comfortable, contemporary and fresh, and the hotel also offers a bistronomic restaurant with an ever-changing menu that reflects the top produce in season.
With 110 spacious and tastefully decorated rooms and suites, Avignon Grand Hôtel is located right beside the ramparts that surround the historical city centre and is also conveniently located close to Avignon Centre train station. Unique in Avignon, guests can also make the most of the Provençal sunshine and enjoy the rooftop outdoor swimming pool or garden.
The final stop of your Essential Vallée de la Gastronomie tour will be New Hotel of Marseille, which is just a few minutes’ walk from the vibrant Vieux Port. Set on the site of a 19th-century building which was once the Institut Pasteur, the New Hotel has a contemporary feel, with its 92 rooms and 8 suites each decorated in a fresh, modern and artistic style. Its trendy lounge bar is open daily with a terrace that leads out to the heated outdoor swimming pool, which is available for guests’ use in the summer months. The hotel’s bistro restaurant also boasts a terrace for dining in front of the pool on warmer days, and a menu inspired by fun, seasonal flavours – available to order as room service or in the restaurant itself.
