Trip Summary

On day three, escape the hustle and bustle with a private wine tour to Frascati, just outside the city. Visit a beautiful family-run estate where you’ll enjoy a relaxed wine tasting, followed by a hands-on cooking class. Learn to prepare traditional Italian dishes using fresh, local ingredients, then savour your creations over a leisurely lunch.

The evening is at leisure back in Rome to unwind or dine out at one of the city’s many excellent restaurants.

After breakfast on day four, check out of the hotel. Your private driver-guide will meet you at the hotel  for a scenic journey through the countryside. Today’s adventure takes you to two of Tuscany’s most celebrated wine towns—Montalcino and Montepulciano. Enjoy guided visits and tastings at top estates, with a rustic winery lunch included.

In the late afternoon, you’ll arrive at your magnificent base for the next two nights—Como Castello del Nero, a luxurious 5* hotel nestled in the rolling Chianti hills.

On day five, after a leisurely breakfast breakfast, your private driver-guide will return to take you on a full day Chianti wine tour in an executive level vehicle (Mercedes E Class or equivalent). The enticing blend of history, culture and gastronomy starts right away, as you drive along the hilltops of the “Black Rooster” road, the ancient Chiantigiana road, which is the Chianti wine road. During your Tuscany wine tour, your guide will tell you about the legend of the Florentine black rooster and how it differs to the Sienese white one. You will firstly be welcomed as the guests of the prestigious Antinori winery for a VIP experience. Here, you will taken on a full behind-the-scenes tour of the estate and cellars, seeing first-hand the individual stages of the production process and your visit will conclude with tastings of seven of Antinori’s most celebrated wines, including Cervaro della Sala, Pian delle Vigne, Badia a Passignano and the famous Tignanello. The tasting will take place in the most exclusive part of the cellars, the intimate Bottaia room. Lunch will then be served in Antinori’s restaurant, which is located on the scenic rooftop terrace. The traditional Italian cuisine will be accompanied by two further Antinori wines. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to visit your favourite Chianti winery for a tour and tastings. The Grape Escapes Tuscany specialists are happy to offer advice and make suggestions if you would prefer. Please note that a number of the more exclusive estates do not tend to receive visitors at weekends and some of them do not receive visitors at all. We would be pleased to discuss the various options with you and contact the individual estates accordingly.

In the evening,  enjoy a five course tasting menu paired with wines at the Michelin-starred restaurant at your hotel, the perfect finale to your Italian escape.

On day six, after a leisurely breakfast check out of your hotel.

Day four of your Rome and Tuscany tour

• Your driver-guide will meet you at your hotel to begin your journey into the Tuscan countryside.
• Enjoy guided visits and tastings in Montalcino and Montepulciano, with a traditional winery lunch included.
• Check into your 5* hotel, Como Castello del Nero, in the Chianti hills.

Day five of your Rome and Tuscany tour

• A visit to the impressive Antinori a Chianti Classico winery for a tour and lunch.
• In the afternoon, enjoy a second visit to a boutique winery.
• A Michelin-starred dinner will be served at your hotel this evening.

Final Day

• After a leisurely breakfast, check out of the hotel.

Package Prices

• These prices are per person and based on two people travelling together and sharing a twin or double room.
• These are realistic guide prices, based on travel in standard season (usually April to the end of October). Considerable discounts often apply for travel out of season (usually November to the end of March) or if there are more than two of you travelling together. Please let us know your preferred travel dates for a definitive price.
• Although we propose specific hotels as part of our standard packages, we enjoy excellent relationships and preferential rates at the majority of the hotels in each of our featured destinations. Therefore if you would prefer to stay in a different hotel, this can be arranged. Please contact us for the relevant supplements/discounts.
• Florence continues to be one of the most visited cities in the world, with 2 million visitors in 2023. Due to this high demand, accommodation prices in the city are often high and subject to fluctuations. While we have made every effort to estimate the cost of our packages accurately, there may be rare occasions where prices vary.
• Other room grades are available at most of the hotels that we work with. Just let us know which hotel you prefer and we will send you the relevant supplements for the various room grades.
• Single supplements and extra night prices are available upon request.
