Our three- and four- day essential breaks based in central Marseille allow for the ultimate whistle-stop discovery of the region and some of the wines that surround it.

Upon your arrival, check into your standard room at the 4* New Hotel of Marseille. Room upgrades are available upon request. The hotel is ideally located near to the Old Port, right in the heart of the city.

After you’ve settled in, discover the city at sunset on a food tour with a local guide. As part of a small group, you’ll embark on a walking tour to sample some of the best foodie spots around the city, in particular, the trendy Notre Dame du Mont area.

On day two, after breakfast at the hotel, you’ll take the train from Marseille Saint-Charles to where many consider the heart of the region: Aix-en-Provence. Upon arrival in Aix-en-Provence, walk the short distance to the tourist office from where you will embark on a fully guided and transported tour into the Cotes de Provence Sainte-Victoire. Your expert guide will accompany you to two local wineries as part of a small group to sample the full-bodied red wines and subtle rosé wines that are so emblematic of the region. Following this, your guide will drop you off in Aix-en-Provence, and you’ll have free time to grab some lunch and soak up the Provencal atmosphere of this quaint town. When you’re ready, hop on the train back to Marseille. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a three-course meal with drinks in a lively city-centre restaurant in Marseille.

If you opt for the four-day break, you’ll meet your English-speaking driver/guide after breakfast at a central departure point in Marseille for a second day of wine tours as part of a small group. This time, you’ll discover the AOC Bandol and Cassis region just east of Marseille. Explore the spectacular village of Cassis, which is nestled between limestone cliffs and turquoise water. Here, you will enjoy a tour and tastings at a local winery, before heading on to the medieval hilltop village of Le Castellet with some free time for lunch, followed by a tasting session in a winery in the Bandol appellation. Following such an enlightening day, your guide will drop you off in Marseille and your final evening will then be free for you to spend as you please.
