Our three- and four-day exclusive breaks in central Marseille showcase the very best that this lively city in southern France has to offer, with unique wine tasting experiences and a sumptuous 5* setting.
Your Grape Escape will be based at the spectacular 5* InterContinental Marseille – Hotel Dieu, which is based right in the centre of town. This stunning historical building overlooks the old port, and guests will enjoy an exceptional level of service and access to the hotel’s first-rate facilities.
Upon your arrival in Marseille, check in to your hotel and then take some time to explore the city on your doorstep. This truly multicultural and vibrant city in France’s south has a history dating back to the ancient Greeks, and you may wish to have some free time to explore for yourself, or we’d be pleased to give you some recommendations to take in the highlights of the city.
In the evening, we’ll reserve you a table at the InterContinental’s chic, modern brasserie where you can order a la carte and enjoy a delightful meal to begin your holiday.
On day two, you will be met at the hotel by an English-speaking chauffeur/guide, who will accompany you throughout the day in a private, luxury vehicle. You will venture out into the Cotes d’Aix en Provence to taste some of the spectacular wines of the region and meet the winemakers at a local wine estate.
For lunch, enjoy a gourmet three-course lunch at the spectacular Michelin-starred restaurant at Villa La Coste headed up by world-renowned Helene Darroze, who already boasts triple and double Michelin-starred restaurants in London and Paris. Your special meal will be accompanied by three glasses of paired wines.
Following such a delightful experience, your driver will accompany you on the short drive to Chateau La Coste, which sits in the heart of 200 hectares of vineyards. You’ll be welcomed at the winery of this beautiful chateau, where you’ll partake in a private tour and tasting, or choose from a sensory wine tasting workshop or food and wine pairing workshop at a supplement (depending on availabilities).
Your driver will return you to your hotel at the end of the day and the evening will be free for you to spend at leisure. If you wish, we would be pleased to reserve you a table in a Marseille restaurant for dinner.
If you opt for the four day break, you’ll be picked up by your expert driver guide at your hotel after a leisurely breakfast and you will embark on another full-day wine tour – this time venturing further east to AOC Bandol. You’ll enjoy a guided tour of an estate in this wine region, and taste three signature Cuvées in the AOC Bandol region, served alongside some olive bread to whet the appetite. You’ll then delight in a Provencal picnic lunch, featuring local produce including charcuterie, goats cheese, terrines, breads and tapenades, served alongside a bottle of wine and with a spectacular view over your surroundings! Following this enlightening Provencal experience, your guide will accompany you to explore the stunning seaside town of Cassis before you return to your hotel.
Your evening will then be free to spend as you please, before you check out of the hotel on the morning of day four.
