Trip Summary

After enjoying breakfast, on day three, check out of your hotel and prepare for a day of wine discovery. You’ll be met by your English-speaking driver guide at your hotel. Your tour will include visits to two Tuscan wineries in the picturesque Chianti vineyards, where you’ll indulge in tours and tastings.  An authentic Tuscan lunch will be served at one of the estates, providing a true taste of local flavours. You’ll then continue your journey to Siena. We’ve included a stop in the charming medieval walled town of San Gimignano.  Set on a hill overlooking the Val d’Elsa Valley, this UNESCO World Heritage site is well worth a visit. You’ll have  some free time to explore the town independently, taking in the Medieval architecture around the Piazza della Cisterna, and perhaps stopping for a coffee break in one of the many squares.

After your arrival in Siena, check into your preferred room grade at the Hotel Athena, ideally located in the heart of the city.

After a leisurely breakfast, the morning is yours to explore the charming streets of Siena at your own pace. Take in the stunning architecture and rich history that this UNESCO World Heritage city has to offer; the Cathedral is absolutely astonishing and the Palazzo Publico, the Torre del Mangia on the main square and the Piazza del Campo, are must-sees. In the early evening, enjoy a tutored tasting session featuring three local wines paired with artisanal cheeses, savouring the best of Tuscan flavours.

In the evening, a three course dinner paired with wines will be served in an authentic Tuscan restaurant in the city centre.

On day five, your driver will return to escort you on a full-day transported tour focusing on the exquisite wines of Montepulciano. Your day will include tours and tastings at two esteemed Montepulciano wineries, where you’ll learn about the unique characteristics of Rosso and Nobile di Montepulciano wines. A traditional winery lunch will be served at one of the estates. At the end of the tour, you will be taken back to Siena. The evening is free for you to relax and enjoy your last evening in Siena. We would be happy to recommend a restaurant and reserve a table for your dinner if required.

Outline Itinerary

Day three of your Essential Tuscany wine tour

• After breakfast check out of your hotel. You’ll be met by your English-speaking specialist wine guide at your hotel. Your tour day will comprise of:
• Tours and tastings at two Tuscan wineries in the Chianti vineyards
• An authentic Tuscan lunch at one of the estates.
• Upon arrival in Siena, check into your preferred room grade at the Hotel Athena, ideally located in the centre of the city.

Day four of your Essential Tuscany wine tour

• After a leisurely breakfast, the morning will be free for you to explore Siena
• Enjoy an early evening tutored tasting session of three local wines with cheeses.
• In the evening, a three course dinner will be served in a premium city centre restaurant, accompanied by local wines.

Day five of your Essential Tuscany wine tour

• After breakfast, your driver will return for a second half day transported tour. Your morning tour will comprise of:
• Tours and tastings at two Montepulciano wineries.
• A traditional winery lunch will be served at one of the estates
• You will be taken back to Siena at the end of the tour.
• The evening is free to relax and we would be pleased to recommend a restaurant and reserve you a table for dinner if required.

Final day of your Essential Tuscany wine tour

• After a leisurely breakfast, check out of the hotel.

Package Prices

• These prices are per person and based on two people travelling together and sharing a twin or double room.
• These are realistic guide prices, based on travel in standard season (usually April to the end of October). Discounts often apply for travel out of season (usually November to the end of March) or if there are more than two of you travelling together. Please let us know your preferred travel dates for a definitive price.
• Although we propose specific hotels as part of our standard packages, we enjoy excellent relationships and preferential rates at the majority of the hotels in each of our featured destinations. Therefore if you would prefer to stay in a different hotel, this can be arranged. Please contact us for the relevant supplements/discounts.
