Based at the beautiful Hotel Le Fontanelle, in the heart of the Chianti wine region, this Hidden Gem wine holiday offers a truly relaxing ‘get away from it all’ experience in a beautiful countryside setting. Hotel Le Fontanelle is a charming luxury hotel where the owners have successfully combined the production of great quality wine at the nearby winery Vallepicciola and the Tuscan hospitality.
Upon arrival, check into your preferred room grade at the charming Hotel Le Fontanelle. Once settled in, we will arrange a tasting of the Estate’s wines for you. In the evening, a four course dinner with wine pairing will be served at the hotel’s restaurant.
On day two, you will be met at the hotel by an English-speaking specialist wine driver/guide, who will accompany you throughout the day on a private basis as you discover the revered wines of Brunello di Montalcino. Brunello is considered to be one of the best wines in the world and its ancestral roots come from the passion of the inhabitants of Montalcino, who handed down their ancient wine-making traditions through the generations. You will be welcomed as the guests of Castello Banfi, for a comprehensive VIP tour. On the tour, you will be taken on a guided visit of the winery and vineyards, before enjoying a tutored wine tasting session of four of the estate’s wines. In addition, you will visit the Balsameria, where they produce excellent quality refined balsamic vinegar; only three litres of their ‘Salsa Etrusca’ are bottled yearly, and can only be purchased from the Castello, or in selected gourmet shops around Italy. Following the tour, delight in a delicious five-course tasting lunch in the estate’s Taverna, which will be paired with five Banfi wines. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to visit the town of Montalcino, located on a charming hill, and the splendid St Antimo abbey is a must-see attraction.
For those booking the four day break, after a relaxing breakfast, you have the choice to do as little or as much as you would like –you may wish to relax at the hotel and make use of the amazing facilities. The hotel boasts a fantastic spa including indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, hammam and jacuzzi. After a relaxing morning, enjoy a picnic overlooking the Tuscan landscape. The hotel will provide you with a picnic basket filled with typical Tuscan dishes: locally cured meats and cheeses, cantucci and a bottle of Chianti Classico. The rest of the afternoon is yours to unwind, or you may wish to enjoy one of the hotel’s activities such as e-bike and Vespa tours. We would be delighted to book you a table in the evening or you may prefer to dine on site.

Availability cannot be guaranteed until we have received a confirmed booking, together with the deposit payment (or payment in full where the dates of travel are in less than 60 days). If the named accommodation / visits are not available, we will endeavour to find suitable alternatives of a similar grade; this may be subject to a supplement or a rebate depending on the price available.
