Valpolicella is a true hidden gem in the province of Verona, with the world-famous Amarone wines as the jewels of its crown. Just under 30 minutes’ drive from Verona and East of Lake Garda in North East Italy, the area is known as the “Pearl of Verona” and its name, a mixture of Latin and Greek, translates to “the valley of many cellars”. Valpolicella is one of the oldest wine production areas in Italy, and the wines just get better and better with age! We certainly recommend a visit to sample it yourself, as well as to explore the beautiful picturesque countryside north of Verona.
