Perhaps best known for being home to the legendary Anne-Sophie Pic’s triple Michelin-starred restaurant, Maison Pic enjoys international renown from gastronomes across the globe. The restaurant is the star of the show, but the hotel is also a sought-after 5* establishment, with an elegant, contemporary, luxury design.

With only 16 rooms and 5 suites, guests can expect a high level of service within the hotel and also enjoy the location within Valence: once a Roman colony, the city is today known as the gateway to the south of France and has certainly earned its place on France’s map of fine cuisine.

La Mirande – Avignon (5*)

Deluxe King room

La Mirande Deluxe room, Avignon

Offering a pleasant contrast from the other hotels featured in the Exclusive Southern Vallée de la Gastronomie tour, La Mirande is the perfect representation of the beautiful, historic city of Avignon. This luxury hotel is set in an 18th-century mansion which sits directly beside the Palais des Papes in Avignon’s historical walled centre, yet its history stretches back even further than this to when it was once a cardinal’s palace in the 14th century.

You could not be more centrally located than this, and yet the hotel provides an elegant, peaceful sanctuary. Its 26 rooms are all decorated with regal furnishings and historic French cotton prints. La Mirande’s Michelin-starred restaurant serves delightful tasting menus in the very room that the cardinals used to entertain the popes for dinner in the 14th century. In the warmer months, you may choose to dine in the beautiful terrace or garden which offers a wonderful view of the Palais des Papes.
