The Reid’s Palace is an iconic 5* hotel with a reputation for luxury and excellent service.  Perched atop a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and just a 10-minute drive from the centre of Funchal, the hotel has been welcoming guests for over a hundred years and has been part of the Belmond portfolio since 1996.  Many notable guests have visited the hotel including George Bernard Shaw and Winston Churchill both of whom have suites named after them. Location

The Madeira Archipelago is situated in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 610 miles south of Portugal and 440 miles west of the African coast. The Island is 35 miles long and 13 miles wide and is blessed with a mild climate making it an ideal year-round destination. The Reid’s Palace Hotel is located 15 miles from the airport and just ten minutes by car from the centre of Funchal in the south of the Island.

Facilities

The Reid’s Palace Hotel offers several dining options included the Michelin Starred William Restaurant (open Wednesday to Saturday) named after the visionary founder of the hotel, William Reid. The menu is a celebration of local and seasonal produce served against the dramatic and spectacular views of the Funchal coastline.  In addition, guests will also enjoy the Italian fine dining restaurant, Ristorante Villa Cipriani, the poolside terrace bar for breakfast and all-day dining until 6.00pm and the unique experience of taking afternoon tea at the formal afternoon tea terrace. The Gastro bar serves up snacks and light evening meals to accompany signature cocktails and live music.  The Hotel has two heated swimming pools (one salt water and one freshwater) a fitness room, spa, sauna and tennis courts.  From the exclusive pool terrace guests can wander down to the sea level platform and jump straight into the ocean.  The hotel also boasts beautifully maintained gardens filled with subtropical plants.
