Self-drive Champagne and Alsace Hotels

We have selected smaller hotels and chateau for this tour. The properties are located outside the large cities, either situated in their own parkland or vineyards, or in small French villages. The hotels proposed all meet our standards for ‘Elegance’ grade accommodation. These are characterful hotels and whilst usually 4* hotels, some of the hotels may lack the facilities to receive the official rating (for example they may not have a lift if it is a historic chateau). We work with a very wide range of hotels in all of our featured regions, therefore we are happy to look at alternatives, if there is a hotel that you would prefer, or if you would like to upgrade some / all of the package to 5* accommodation.

Château de Rilly (Rilly-la-Montagne) – 4*

Located in a quaint, Premier Cru Champagne-making village, the Château de Rilly’s rural location is best suited to those who have access to a car whilst visiting the region. For complete safety, cars can be parked overnight within the estate’s gated grounds. In this calm and tranquil setting, guests can explore neighbouring villages and estates and enjoy a relaxing stay in the region.

The Château’s fifteen bedrooms are each named after a prestigious Champagne House and are individually styled and decorated in a modern and refined fashion. Each room is fully equipped with an en-suite bathroom, a flat screen TV on a rotating stand, WIFI Internet access and a safety deposit box and many rooms offer beautiful views of the village or of the Château’s pretty grounds. Superior rooms are available as well as Standard rooms and these are more spacious with large terraces.©Château-de-Rilly-la-Montagne

A la Cour d’Alsace (Obernai) – 4*

The A la Cour d’Alsace hotel, set in beautiful gardens, is the former home of the barons of Gail and nestles against the old ramparts of the small town of Obernai.  Expect exposed beams in this delightful, half-timbered building which sits centrally in the heart of this beautiful town.

The hotel boasts two restaurants; the gastronomic Jardin des Remparts, a refined dining room, offering seasonal, traditional recipes, where the Sommelier will be happy to recommend wines to accompany your meal and Le Caveau de Gail, a more relaxed, cosy ambiance, with hearty Alsatian recipes to tempt your  taste buds. The Spa offers many different treatments, and the hotel also benefits from a hammam, sauna and swimming pool. The large garden, with its beautiful lawns and trees, offers a very peaceful area to relax in, with a glass of wine. A la Cour d’Alsace has 53 comfortable, modern rooms, furnished simply, yet elegantly with traditional styled pale wood furniture.Credits-A-la-Cour-d'Alsace
