Our three or four day Essential Haro breaks give you the great opportunity to learn all about the renowned wines of Rioja as well as discovering the region’s iconic gastronomy. Based in the picturesque city of Haro, the capital of Rioja wines, these packages offer the perfect base to explore the region’s world-famous bodegas and the colourful vineyards.
On the morning of day two you will be transferred to a local premium winery. Here, you will be taken on a guided tour of the estate’s facilities followed by tastings of the estate’s wines. At the end of the tour, enjoy a gourmet picnic with traditional dishes in the charming vineyards. You will then be taken back to Haro where the remainder of the afternoon will be free for you to do as you please. You may wish to do a siesta or enjoy your lovely surroundings independently. In the evening, enjoy a delicious three course dinner with drinks at the hotel’s lovely restaurant.
For those opting to stay for a third night, you will be met at your hotel by an English-speaking specialist guide who will accompany you throughout the day on a private basis. Our Spanish Tour Manager was born and bred in the region and not only will she entertain you throughout the day with fascinating historical and cultural anecdotes, she will also share with you her extensive wine knowledge. You will be taken to two wineries for tours and tastings. At the first estate, guests will marvel at the centuries-old cellars and enjoy a private wine tasting session, while the second winery offers a more modern experience, providing a lovely contrast.
You will enjoy a traditional tapas run lunch, sampling different tapas across a selection of local bars, the Spanish way! Please note that the tapas lunch is payable locally.
On the morning of your last day you will visit the Bodegas Bilbainas. Here, you will see first-hand the wine-making process from vine to bottle, followed by three tastings of their wines.
