This break has been designed to give guests a great introduction to the Cognac making process as well as try some of the most prestigious names. Cognac is a charming town with a rich history located on the river Charente. Make the most of the relaxed rhythm of life and discover the secrets of the Liqueur of the Gods on this 3 or 4 day break.
Upon arrival in Cognac, check into your preferred room grade at the 4* Hotel François Premier. In the afternoon, take a short walk to a Maison de Cognac in the city centre You will be taken on a guided tour followed by a tasting session of two of their Cognacs. The evening will be free for you to do as you please.
On the morning of day two, walk five minutes to the prestigious Maison Meukow. Here, you will enjoy a full tour of the Maison, learning all about the Cognac making process and the history of the estate. Following your tour, a three course lunch will be served at the Maison. Michel Coste and the architect Pascale de Redon completely refurbished the estate three years ago and in this impressive setting, lunch will be served alongside a selection of Meukow Cognacs. You will then walk ten minutes to the riverside, where you will be welcomed as the VIP guests of Cognac Hennessy.
You will be taken across the river by boat and en route, your guide will introduce you to Hennessy’s history, savoir-faire and international standing. In the traditional ageing cellars, you will learn about the Cognac-making process from vine to bottle by way of an immersive 360o experience, which will conclude with a visit to the legendary Paradis cellar. After taking the boat back across the river, a technical tasting session of Hennessy X.O and Paradis will take place in a special room, laid out in a lecture theatre style with individual professional tasting tables.
On day three, following your breakfast, you will be met at your hotel by a pre-booked and pre-paid taxi. You will be taken to a local Tonnellerie, where you will learn all about the fascinating barrel making process. As you learn the different steps required to make a barrel, you will see the coopers at work and immerse in a traditional craft which can be traced back to the Roman. After the tour, your taxi will return to take you to the Michelin-starred restaurant in La Ribaudière. Here, a three course lunch with aperitif, wine, water and coffee will be served. You will be taken back to Cognac after lunch. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a visit to the prestigious Rémy Martin Maison. Here, you will be taken on a tour of this world-famous House, learning about the secrets of the Rémy Martin heritage and expertise. Your visit will conclude with a tasting session and gourmet appetisers. The evening will be free for you to do as you please.
