This break has been designed to give guests a great introduction to the Cognac making process as well as try some of the most prestigious names. Cognac is a charming town with a rich history located on the river Charente. Make the most of the relaxed rhythm of life and discover the secrets of the Liqueur of the Gods on this 3 or 4 day break.
Upon arrival in Cognac, check into your preferred room grade at the 4* Hotel François Premier. In the evening, enjoy a three-course meal with a glass of wine, water and coffee at the hotel’s bistronomic restaurant, La Belle Epoque, which is located just a three-minute walk away.
On the morning of day two, walk five minutes to the prestigious Maison Meukow. Here, you will enjoy a full tour of the Maison, learning all about the Cognac making process and the history of the estate. Following your tour, a three-course lunch will be served at the Maison alongside a selection of Meukow Cognacs. You will then walk ten minutes through town, where you will be welcomed as the guests of Rémy Martin. Here, embark on a full guided tour of their historic house, stepping back in time to discover three centuries of cognac making. Following this, you’ll enjoy a tasting of their VSOP and XO cognacs accompanied by gourmet appetisers. Please note this tour may be as part of a small group.
Following such an enriching day, your evening will be free for you to spend as you please. We’d also be pleased to make you a table reservation for dinner if you wish.
If you opt for the four-day break, on day three, following breakfast, you will take the short walk to Hennessy, for an interactive and insightful experience at this world-renowned cognac house. You will be taken across the river by boat and en route, your guide will introduce you to Hennessy’s history, savoir-faire and international standing. In the traditional ageing cellars, you will learn about the Cognac-making process from vine to bottle by way of an immersive 360o virtual reality experience, which will conclude with a visit to the legendary cellars. After taking the boat back across the river, a technical tasting session of Hennessy VS and VSOP will take place. Please note this tour may be as part of a small group.
For lunch, you will enjoy a delicious three-course meal at a cosy restaurant in the centre of Cognac. You will be able to order and pay for drinks locally.
In the afternoon, make your way to Chateau de Cognac for a tasting session of Baron Otard cognacs. Your guided tasting will include VS, VSOP, XO, Extra 1795, and an old eau-de-vie. The rest of the day will be free for you to do as you please before departure on day four.
