The vines were first introduced to the stunning French Riviera by the Romans, many centuries ago. While the Côte d’Azur is perhaps best known for images of a chilled glass of pale rosé enjoyed beside the Mediterranean, the region also produces a number of excellent red and white wines.
A custom Côte d’Azur wine tour designed by our team offers the perfect opportunity to discover the region’s wine culture. Its warm climate, abundant sunshine, and cooling sea breezes create ideal conditions for producing wines that perfectly fit the Mediterranean surroundings, both in character and flavour.

While many of our Côte d’Azur wine tours venture west to Provence, AOC Bellet is the best-located wine region for those staying in or near Nice. With just a small selection of quality vineyards here, this region produces more red than it does famed Provençal rosé.
This is the only wine region to make wine from the grape varieties Braquet and Folle Noir, used to produce rosé and red wines. White wines are typically made from Vermentino, known locally as Rolle, sometimes blended with Chardonnay.
Guests joining our Nice wine tours can experience these unusual local varieties first-hand, while those travelling further west will discover the classic Provençal rosés, particularly around the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

"Excellent organisation. Great fun and very informative."
