Our Extensive Southern Dalmatia package is based in Dubrovnik and gives you the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the Southern Dalmatian lifestyle and culture by discovering the region’s history and heritage, making the most of the Croatian pristine nature and picture-perfect beaches as well as tasting local wines and sampling delicious specialties during traditional meals.
Upon arrival at Dubrovnik airport, you will be met by a private chauffeured vehicle who will take you to your preferred hotel. Check in to your chosen room grade. The remainder of the afternoon will be free for you to enjoy your hotel’s superb facilities. In the evening, a three course dinner will be served in a family-owned fish and seafood restaurant in the city centre. Drinks have not been included as part of this package and can be ordered and paid for on the day.
After breakfast on day two, you will be taken on a guided city tour of Dubrovnik. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the old town with its medieval buildings is stunning. Your tour will take you to the Onofrio’s Fountain which was designed in 1438 by the renowned Italian architect Onofrio di Giordano della Cava. You will visit the old port and learn all about Dubrovnik’s maritime history. You will also be able to see St. Saviour’s Church, the Franciscan Church and monastery as well as some wine producing vines believed to be at least 100 years old. Your guide will regale you with tales and anecdotes of the history of Dubrovnik and its surroundings.
Your tour will end in the harbour where you will be able to take a boat to Lokrum island. The journey time is approximately 15 minutes. Tickets for the return crossing have been included as part of this package. Here, you will have some free time to explore Lokrum’s botanical gardens. Founded in 1959, the garden has more than 800 plant species. Take the boat back to Dubrovnik after your visit.
On day three, you will be met at the hotel by a specialist driver / guide who will accompany you throughout the day on a private basis. You will firstly be taken to the town of Ston. With its strategic location, Ston boasts a rich history and you will have the opportunity to see the impressive town walls. Here, you will also enjoy an oyster tasting. You will then be taken to the birthplace of Marco Polo, Korcula island, for a short guided tour and some free time for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will be taken to the Peljesac Peninsula where you will visit two local wineries. After a full tour of the facilities you will be able to sample the estates’ wines. One of your tasting will be paired with a platter of local delicacies. You will be taken back to Dubrovnik at the end of the day.
In the evening, a three course dinner will be served in a local bistro in tne city centre. Drinks have not been included as part of this package and can be ordered and paid for on the day.
Day four will be free for you to spend as you please. You may want to relax and enjoy the sun on one of the picture-perfect beaches. Alternatively, you may prefer to further explore Dubrovnik independently.
After breakfast on day five, you will be taken on a full day cruise on a Carrack ship. These historic three or four masted ships were used between the 14th and 17th Century to transport goods. Today, you will explore the quaint, white-stoned towns of the Elaphite islands, beautifully surrounded by pine trees and deep blue sea. You will also be taken to the island of Kolocep and its picturesque fishing village, the town of Sudurad on the island of Sipan and the island of Lopud.
A buffet lunch of traditional Croatian dishes will be served on board. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful beaches, whether you enjoy sunbathing or swimming in the sea, we recommend you bring your swimming costume and beach towels. You will be taken back to your hotel at the end of the cruise.
In the evening, enjoy a three course dinner in a local restaurant. Drinks have not been included as part of this package and can be ordered and paid for on the day.
After breakfast on day six, your driver / guide will return to accompany you on a second day of wine tours and tastings. You will be taken to two wineries of the Konavle area and enjoy a full tour of the estates followed by tasting sessions of the wines produced on site. You will also have the opportunity to sample the local olive oil. Platters of cheeses and cold cuts will be served at one of the estate to accompany your tasting. A two course lunch will be arranged for you in a eco-restaurant set in an ancient water mill.
You will be taken back to Dubrovnik at the end of the day. The evening will be at leisure.
Day seven will be free for you to spend as you please. Additional activities can be arranged on request.
After breakfast on day four, check out of the hotel. You will be taken to the airport on time for your return flight.
