Sun, Sea… and lots of lovely wine! Bandol ticks all the boxes for an unforgettable summer holiday. Located an hour’s drive from Marseille airport or two hours from Nice, this seaside town is the perfect base to relax and bask in the Provençal sunshine. On this sumptuous seven night break, you’ll have plenty of time to unwind as well as discover the region’s highly-regarded red, white and rosé wines.
Accommodation with breakfast will be arranged for you at the luxurious 5* Ile Rousse Thalazur Hotel & Spa and on day two, you will be met by an English-speaking specialist driver/guide for a full day private discovery of the wines of Bandol. During the course of the day, you will visit three wineries to taste extensive examples of the region’s white Clairette, red Mourvèdre and premium blend rosé wines. You will have free time for lunch in the picture-perfect medieval village of Le Castellet, which is perched on top of a hill with breath-taking views across the vineyards and countryside. In the evening, a four course dinner will be served in the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant. Please note that drinks have not been included as part of the package and can be ordered and paid for locally.
The next three days will be completely free to do as you please, and we would of course be very pleased to make some suggestions for activities depending on your desires and interests. However you may wish to simply relax and enjoy the hotel’s superb spa, or while away the days sunbathing on the beach. On one of the evenings, we will arrange a sunset “apéro” cruise for you. Departing from Bandol as part of a small group, spend three memorable hours on board a peaceful sailing yacht, swimming, watching the sunset and indulging in a Provençal aperitif.
Following your three days of downtime, your driver/guide will return on day six to accompany you on a second day of tours. This time, you will discover the wines of the Cassis appellation, with a tour and tasting at a charming local winery. Cassis is particularly revered for its elegant white wines, made principally from Clairette and Marsanne. A three course lunch with drinks will then be served in the postcard-pretty port of Cassis. In the afternoon, you will be taken on a two hour small group cruise to visit the region’s famous Calanques (narrow, steep-walled inlets along the coastline). As well as admiring the Calanques from the boat, you will also have the opportunity to swim in the crystal blue sea.
You will then have a final free day for sunbathing and relaxing before checking out of the hotel on the morning of day eight.
