Contact UsOne of France’s most celebrated appellations, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the finest expressions of the Grenache grape, which is traditionally blended with up to 13 other varieties (most commonly Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault) to create bold, rich red wines. The village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape is beautifully picturesque, making it the perfect destination for a fantastic short break.
Our three and four day packages are based at the 4* Château des Fines Roches, a 19th castle set amongst prestigious vineyards. After checking in to your preferred room and spending some time enjoying your pleasant surroundings, a three course wine tasting dinner will be served in the Château’s elegant gastronomic restaurant. Each course will be perfectly paired with a Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine.
On the morning of day two, you will be bet at the Château by an English-speaking specialist driver/guide, who will accompany you throughout the day on a fun and fascinating Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine tour. You will start by looking at the unusual terroir that is responsible for the ultra-ripe grapes that come from the Châteauneuf-du-Pape vines and will then visit the cuverie of a local wine-maker, to understand their wine-making philosophy. The visit will conclude with tastings of their award-winning wines. You will be welcomed to dine in a quintessentially Rhône bistro for lunch. After lunch, enjoy tours and tastings at two more Châteauneuf-du-Pape wineries before spending a relaxing evening at leisure.
If you would like to stay for a third night and book the four day experience, your guide will return on the morning of day three, and accompany you on a second day of tours. Today, you will visit three appellations; Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Rasteau. In the village of Vacqueyras, you will see the famous dentelles. Meaning lace in English, these short, steep mountains are covered in broom and you will have time to admire the beautiful rock formations and the magical terroir. You will then meet a wine producer in the village, who will show you around his estate, and the tour will conclude with a tasting of some of the estate’s wines. A traditional French lunch will then be served in an authentic bistro.
In the afternoon, your guide will take you to Gigondas. The countless wine-related archaeological artefacts found in this appellation are testament to the Roman’s appreciation of wine. Here, enjoy a tour and tastings as the guests of a highly regarded wine-maker in this appellation. Before heading back to the Château, you will visit a winery in the Rasteau appellation for a tour and tasting. Rasteau is particularly famous for its delicious fortified wines, which can be red, white and rosé.
