As the air becomes crisp, the cellar doors of the region’s legendary wineries become even more warm and inviting. Our recommendation for a November visit is Alsace in northeastern France. November is the start of the festive cheer as the Christmas markets open across the region, from the city of Strasbourg to the storybook streets of Colmar. The twinkling lights and mulled wine scent combine for an enchanting atmosphere of anticipation, as we look forward to the season of goodwill. The markets are also ideal for artisan made crafts, perfect for a thoughtful gift come Christmas.

Christmas is a time for celebration – so naturally, we recommend Champagne for a luxury escape. Tastings at boutique wineries offer a cosy retreat from the winter winds, and champagne tastes even better from the source. The sparkle perfectly fits the season; exciting and jubilant, and best shared with the ones you love.
Reims is especially enchanting to visit as the year winds down. The Habits de Lumière is a highlight of the year, as the iconic Avenue de Champagne transforms into a festival of light and flavour. That sense of magic continues into the Christmas markets, as the scents of sweet festive pastries and the sight of unique handmade crafts excite the senses. But for us, the definition of a winter wonderland is sipping locally produced champagne, letting the season envelop you in enchantment and hope for the year ahead.
