Trip Summary

Wine Tour based at Hôtel du Couvent

Stays at Hôtel du Couvent in Nice offer unforgettable, uncompromisable luxury and an authentic stay in the heart of Nice. This hotel is set just below the Colline du Château in the heart of Nice’s Old Town, and feels like a truly special hidden gem, perfect for those who prefer a stay that captures the soul of the region.

Formerly a convent, the hotel has always been a part of the local community and having opened as a luxury hotel in 2024, strives to maintain this position. Guests can expect character, beautiful pieces of art, excellent service and a true sense of belonging when they stay at Hôtel du Couvent.

Upon arrival in the region and check in at the hotel, you’ll start your trip in true style by discovering one of the best parts of Nice: its food! You’ll meet your expert local guide for a private evening food tour on foot. Your guide will take you to all of the best spots across Nice to taste the variety of delicacies that this city has to offer – ranging from olive oil to artisanal chocolates, cheese paired with natural wines, and Nice favourites socca and pissaladière.

On day two of your Hidden Gem Hôtel du Couvent stay in Nice, it is time to immerse yourself in the region’s wines. Fuel up with a delightful breakfast at the hotel before meeting your English-speaking driver/wine-specialist guide at your hotel ready for your day in the vineyards on a private basis. You will have the opportunity to choose in advance between AOC Côtes de Provence, home to many of Provence’s most quintessential rosés, and AOC Bellet, which is a smaller, yet equally wonderful appellation just north of Nice. Over the course of the day, you will visit three different boutique wineries for an insight into their winemaking styles and for some tastings. You will also pause for a leisurely lunch (payable locally). At the end of the day, you will be dropped off at your hotel.

For dinner this evening, we will reserve you a table at the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant, Le Restaurant du Couvent, where you will be able to order a la carte alongside the hotel’s selection of natural wines and innovative cocktails. The restaurant prides itself on its simple yet refined dishes, served in elegant surroundings in the cloister dining room or al fresco in the charming courtyard.

On day three of your Hidden Gem Hôtel du Couvent stay in Nice, the day will be mostly free for you to spend as you please. No trip to Hôtel du Couvent would be complete without plenty of time to soak up your surroundings. After breakfast (or before, for the early birds), we recommend trying one of the hotel’s complimentary fitness classes or popping for a swim in the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool. Its views over Nice and the Promenade des Anglais are not to be missed, and neither is the hotel’s wonderful spa.

With a circuit inspired by Roman baths, paying tribute to Nice’s history, move between the succession of pools which each increase in temperature. You will also find a calming relaxation pool and area, sauna and steam room. Guests are free to use the spa whenever they wish during their stay, without prior reservation needed, although we recommend spending a few hours indulging in all of the facilities the hotel has to offer. There are also a wide range of treatments available which we can arrange for you at an additional cost.

For lunch, you may wish to take a short walk into Nice’s Old Town, or if you’d prefer to stay at the hotel, we recommend La Guinguette, the hotel’s delightful open-air summer restaurant nestled in the gardens. Using ingredients which are freshly picked from the vegetable garden right beside the restaurant, you’ll be treated to mouth-watering, innovative, Mediterranean dishes, simply bursting with flavour. We can reserve a table for you and you will be able to order à la carte and pay locally on the day.

To conclude such a delightful day, make the short walk down to Nice Port to embark on a private, sunset boat cruise. Your captain will take you out to sea where you can admire the views along the Mediterranean coast and take in your surroundings as the sun goes down, best enjoyed with a glass of wine in hand.

After you have disembarked from your two-hour sunset sail, the evening will be free to spend as you please. You may wish to explore Nice independently, or we can make a booking for you at one of our favourite Michelin-starred restaurants in Nice city centre. Just let us know and we will gladly include this as part of your itinerary (at a supplement). Alternatively, if you’re looking for a more relaxed dinner, we can make a booking for you at Le Bistro, a wonderful restaurant just beside the hotel.

For those staying a fourth night, the next day will introduce you to an iconic part of Nice’s culture at a beach club along the world-famous Promenade des Anglais. We’ll reserve you a sunbed to while away time, soak up the sun and relax. The afternoon and evening will be free for you to spend as you please and explore the city of Nice, or perhaps you may like to go to a nearby town such as Eze, Villefranche or Monaco? We would be pleased to discuss the various options with you.

On your final morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out and making your onward journey.
