One of only two wine regions in Spain to be awarded the prestigious Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOQ) status, Priorat is a benchmark for excellence in Spanish winemaking. Set amidst the scenic landscapes of Catalonia, it is known for its ancient vineyards, rugged terrain, and world-class wines. Defined by its distinctive slate soils (llicorella) and terraced hillsides, this extraordinary region has produced some of Spain’s most powerful and elegant reds.
Upon arrival in Priorat, check into your preferred room at Gran Hotel Mas d’en Bruno, an elegant country estate nestled in the heart of the region. Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and sweeping views of the Montsant mountains, this refined retreat provides the perfect base for your Priorat wine tasting tour.
The rest of the day is yours to relax, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and soak in the breathtaking natural beauty around you.
In the evening, enjoy a tasting dinner featuring local Catalan cuisine at the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant. Each dish will be carefully paired with exceptional Priorat wines.
On the morning of day two, your private driver‑guide will meet you at the hotel to begin a full day of tours and tastings through Priorat’s renowned vineyards. This day offers rich insight into the region’s winemaking traditions, terroir, and cultural history.
Your first visit is to an award-winning estate, where you’ll enjoy an in‑depth tour of the vineyards and cellars, followed by a tasting that highlights the distinctive character and complexity of Priorat’s powerful reds. You will then continue on to a second winery where you will enjoy a typical Catalan lunch paired with both DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant wines.
After lunch, your guide will take you to the hillside village of Siurana, one of the most beautiful spots in the region. Here you’ll have a brief stop for photos and to admire the breathtaking views over the Priorat vineyards.
In the afternoon, together with your guide you will visit one of the oldest wineries in the region. Founded in the late 12th century, this winery is widely regarded as the birthplace of Priorat wine. Here, the first vineyards were cultivated, laying the foundations of the region’s viticultural tradition and shaping the identity of Priorat long before the modern wine era.
At the end of the day your driver will take you back to Gran Hotel Mas d’en Bruno, where the evening is yours to enjoy at leisure.
For those opting for the four‑day package, after a leisurely breakfast on day three your driver will return for a further day of discovery.
Your first visit of the day will be to Cartoixa Scala Dei, where you’ll enjoy a private guided tour of the monastery and learn about its importance to the history of Priorat and its enduring influence on the region’s wine culture. As part of this visit, you will also enjoy a virtual reality experience that takes you back in time to experience monastic life centuries ago.
After this cultural break you will continue your wine journey with a visit and tasting at another outstanding DOQ winery, followed by a delicious lunch paired with local wines.
At the end of the day, your driver will take you back to Gran Hotel Mas d’en Bruno, where you can relax and enjoy the hotel’s peaceful surroundings. You may wish to dine at one of the hotel’s restaurants or alternatively, if you’d like to dine in Priorat’s capital, the village of Falset, the hotel can arrange a taxi for you (to be paid locally).
On your final morning, after a leisurely breakfast, check out of your hotel.
