Portugal is one of our most requested regions for wine tours, thanks of course in part to the excellent wines being produced there but also because of the country’s reputation for being a safe and welcoming destination,  rich in its diversity, offering cosmopolitan cities and a fantastic climate with over 300 days of sunshine a year!  Portugal is home to a varied mix of cultures, heritage and landscapes which all come together in a small, yet unforgettably dynamic and welcoming country.

Whether you are in the wonderfully diverse and vibrant city of Lisbon tasting a Pastel de Nata, or in the peaceful and warm countryside of the Alentejo, surrounded by vineyards, cork trees and open fields, you will encounter and remember the warm smiles of the Portuguese people and the world renowned excellence of Portuguese gastronomy and wines.

On day one of your Lisbon wine tour you will be met at Lisbon airport and driven to your centrally located hotel.  After checking in at the hotel the remainder of the day will be free for you to enjoy at leisure. In the evening we have arranged a meal for you in a carefully selected restaurant, within easy walking distance of the hotel where you will enjoy traditional Portuguese cuisine.

Day two of your Essential Lisbon Wine Tour is dedicated to visiting wineries and tasting wines in the Lisbon Wine Region, just over an hour’s drive from the city.  Your driver will collect you at the hotel and drive you into the countryside to visit your first winery, a small wine estate aiming to create some of the most exciting wines in the region. The terroir here translates directly to the wine, you can taste the influence of  the hills and the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.  Expect fresh wines with vibrant colours and flavours.

After a stop for lunch you will head to a different area in the wine region which will highlight the diversity the Lisbon wine region  can offer.  Here you will visit a boutique wine estate where they are creating wines with indigenous grape varieties, a wine project designed to contribute to local rural development as well as promoting the cultural heritage of the region.  Following your visit and tasting session your driver will return you to the hotel.

Relax and enjoy your evening at leisure

Day three of your tour  is departure day. Check out after breakfast and meet your driver who will take you to the airport in plenty of time to board your return flight. If you are departing on an evening flight please let us know as we can happily give you our best suggestions for spending an extra day in Lisbon!

Package Prices

• These prices are per person and based on two people travelling together and sharing a twin or double room.
• These are realistic guide prices, based on travel in standard season (usually April to the end of October). Discounts often apply for travel out of season (usually November to the end of March) or if there are more than two of you travelling together. Please let us know your preferred travel dates for a definitive price.
• Although we propose specific hotels as part of our standard packages, we enjoy excellent relationships and preferential rates at the majority of the hotels in each of our featured destinations. Therefore if you would prefer to stay in a different hotel, this can be arranged. Please contact us for the relevant supplements/discounts.
• Other room grades are available at most of the hotels that we work with. Just let us know which hotel you prefer and we will send you the relevant supplements for the various room grades.
• Single supplements and extra night prices are available upon request.
