Given the wide range of travel options, our standard package prices do not include travel. Here are the best ways to travel to Lisbon, Alentejo and the South of Portugal:

Fly to Lisbon or Faro

There are direct flights to Lisbon from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Luton, London Stansted, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports in the UK and from New York (JFK and Newark) Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, Boston, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Toronto and Montreal in North America making it the perfect gateway to Portugal whether you are planning to stay in the Capital or travel north to Porto, south east to Alentejo or take a connecting flight to the beautiful island of Madeira.

If you are visiting the Southern Alentejo region and flying from the UK it may be easier to fly into Faro ( just under a 3 hour flight) with options from London Gatwick, London Luton and London Stansted plus Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Glasgow.  Faro also has good flight connections with other European hubs for visitors travelling across the Atlantic.

Lisbon airport is just 5 miles from the centre of the city so a taxi into the centre is relatively inexpensive, travel by car generally takes approximately 30 mins. Alternatively you can catch the train; the ‘Aeroporto – Saldanha’ line takes you to the centre of  Lisbon in about 20 minutes. For those considering hiring a car to travel to and from the airport, please get in touch to ask about this or use our online car hire search engine.

Alternatively, many of our clients prefer to be met at the airport by a private driver which we can happily arrange for you. Please get in touch to check the cost for this and for private transfers from other destinations in Portugal or Spain.

Train from Porto to Lisbon

For those guests who are combing visits to the north and the south of the country the train between Porto and Lisbon is an excellent option. The journey time is approximately 3 hours and ticket prices start from £20.00.
