Day one of your Luxury Madeira Wine and Gastronomy tour

Upon arrival at the airport in Madeira you will be met by your private, English-speaking driver and whisked to your 5* luxury hotel.  Once you have checked into your room, take some time to relax and look forward to your welcome meal this evening at the double Michelin-starred restaurant, Il Gallo d’Oro.

Il Gallo d’Oro is known for its focus on contemporary Iberian cuisine, which combines traditional Portuguese flavours with innovative culinary techniques.  Led by Executive Chef, Benoit Sinthon, the kitchen at Il Gallo D’Oro crafts dishes that emphasize locally sourced ingredients, including fresh seafood, premium meats and seasonal produce.

Day two of your Luxury Madeira Wine and Gastronomy tour

Following a relaxing breakfast, at 11.00 am you will be collected by your private driver at the hotel to depart for a full day wine tour during which you will explore the west and north of the Island. At 11.30 am you will arrive at your first destination, the charming village of Camara de Lobos. Immerse yourself in the bustling atmosphere of local fishermen as they tend to their daily catch, offering a glimpse into Madeira’s coastal traditions.

Back on the road at 12.30 pm you will elevate your adventure to new heights as you ascend to the Boca dos Namorados viewpoint, standing 1000 metres above sea level. Here, embrace the awe-inspiring panoramas that stretch across the island’s dramatic landscapes.

Your next stop will be at Sao Vincente winery where you will be treated to a delicious lunch that encapsulates the flavours of the island.

Following lunch, you will visit a private organic vineyard where you will enjoy a tasting of Madeira wine.  Through this visit and tastings of four varietals you will come to understand the evolution of the wine over the years.

At 5.00 pm it will be time to return to the hotel. The evening will be free for you to do as you please. We would be delighted to reserve you a table for dinner if required.

Day three of your Luxury Madeira Wine and Gastronomy tour

Following a relaxing breakfast, you will be collected by your private driver at the hotel to depart for a day which will include honing your skills as a chef and a relaxing afternoon cruise on either a sailing boat or private yacht (please note that a supplement applies for the private yacht).

You will depart from the hotel at 11.00 am to visit a typical Madeiran private farm where the owner and chef will welcome you with a traditional drink.  Together with the chef you will create a menu exclusively with local products and ingredients from the garden.  When the meal is ready, you will enjoy the 3-course menu you have helped to create, complete with wines, water and tea or coffee included.

This afternoon you will set your course for an unforgettable maritime experience as you step aboard our luxurious sailing vessel* for a captivating 2-hour cruise. Prepare to indulge yourself in the sheer joy of gliding across the azure waters.  As we hoist the sails and leave the bustling shores behind us you will be immersed in a world of total tranquility. Gaze out at the vast expanse of ocean and revel in the soothing rhythm of the waves. Our skilled Captain knows the waters like the back of their hand and will navigate the vessel to reveal hidden coves, secluded beaches and stunning coastal vistas.  (*upgrade to a private yacht available for a supplement)

At approximately 4.30 pm it will be time to return to port and meet your driver to return to the hotel.  Enjoy the rest of your day and evening at leisure.

Day four of your Luxury Madeira Wine and Gastronomy tour

Spend your last full day on the island at your leisure, choose to explore Funchal and take a leisurely stroll along the seafront promenade, explore the Monte Palace Tropical Garden and Monte Palace Museum with its fascinating collection of African and Portuguese art or relax at the beach or pool. At 6.00 pm your driver will collect you for a private Madeiran Wine experience at Quinta das Malvas, the private estate of the Blandys family.  Here you will be treated to an exclusive visit to the vineyards with the winemaker followed by a tasting designed to highlight the evolution of the Verdelho and Bual styles of wine.  You will taste six wines including five-year old, ten-year old and 2008 harvest varietals.

To end your luxury wine and gastronomy visit to Madeira in style we have arranged for your invitation to dine at the Blandys property where your private chef will prepare a six-course tasting menu for you to enjoy.

Following this memorable evening your driver will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel.

Day five of your Luxury Madeira Wine and Gastronomy tour

Day five is departure day.  Following breakfast and check out your driver will be available to transfer you to the airport in plenty of time to catch your return flight.

Package Prices

• These prices are per person and based on two people travelling together and sharing a twin or double room.
• These are realistic guide prices, based on travel in standard season (usually April to the end of October). Discounts often apply for travel out of season (usually November to the end of March), or if there are more than two of you travelling together. Please let us know your preferred travel dates for a definitive price.
• Although we propose specific hotels as part of our standard packages, we enjoy excellent relationships and preferential rates at the majority of the hotels in each of our featured destinations. Therefore, if you would prefer to stay in a different hotel, this can be arranged. Please contact us for the relevant supplements/discounts.
• Other room grades are available at most of the hotels that we work with. Just let us know which hotel you prefer and we will send you the relevant supplements for the various room grades.
