Based in a superb private mansion with a rich and impressive history, this three day break is the perfect holiday for those who would like to enjoy a unique and romantic experience in the stunning Northern Rhône Valley. Inspired by the 18th Century, the décor of the Hôtel de la Villeon is a subtle blend of tradition and modernity, where comfort meets pleasure and relaxation.
After a lovely breakfast on day two, make your way to the quaint little town of Tain l’Hermitage, which is just on the other side of the river. Here, you will enjoy a private guided tour of a prominent local winery, seeing first-hand the fascinating wine-making process, followed by extensive tastings of their wines. You will then be welcomed at the Paul Jaboulet Aîné boutique. One of the biggest names in the Northern Rhône and producer of the world-revered “La Chapelle,” this estate has been making highly sought-after wines for almost two Centuries and you will have the opportunity to taste six different wines; reds and whites from both the Southern and the Northern Rhône. A three course lunch with a further two Jaboulet wines will then be served. After lunch, you will have plenty of time to admire the breathtaking views across the Valley from the iconic “La Chapelle,” a stone chapel which was allegedly built by a 13th Century knight who fell in love with the vineyards here. You will also be taken by a pre-booked taxi to a quality producer of St Péray or Cornas wines for a full tour and tastings of several of the estate’s award-winning wines. Please note that we are unable to pre-pay taxis in Tain l’Hermitage / Tournon sur Rhone. We will pre-book your transfers for you and we expect the taxi transfers to cost in the region of 50 euros.
If you opt for the four day break, enjoy a visit to the Cité du Chocolat Valrhona in the morning. You will learn the secrets of fine chocolate making, and you will be given plenty of samples to master the art of tasting. In the afternoon, you will be electric bikes will be provided to take you on a picturesque ride through the lovely Hermitage vineyards. At the end of the tour, enjoy a tutored tasting session of five wines at the prestigious Chapoutier. In the evening, a delicious three course dinner will be served in a local restaurant.
