Contact UsAt the heart of the Saint-Emilion appellation, the Château Grand Barrail is a unique 19th Century Château with a charming fairy-tale feel. The luxurious property is a true haven of tranquillity and offers the ideal base to explore the world famous Bordeaux vineyards of both Saint-Emilion and the Médoc appellations.
After checking in on day one, enjoy a relaxing afternoon and evening at the Château. With its spacious bedrooms, luxurious spa, delightful outdoor pool and gardens as well as its fine dining restaurant, Château Grand Barrail has a lot to offer. Alternatively you may prefer to explore your lovely surroundings independently and particularly the picturesque UNESCO Classified village of Saint-Emilion with its cobbled streets and charming boutiques.
You will be met on the morning of day two by a luxury chauffeured vehicle, which will accompany you throughout the day on a private basis. Merlot is the predominant grape variety in Saint-Emilion. and guests are free to choose their preferred two Châteaux for tours and tastings. The Grape Escapes Bordeaux specialists are happy to offer advice and make suggestions if you would prefer. Please note that a number of the more exclusive estates do not tend to receive visitors at weekends and some of them do not receive visitors at all. We would be pleased to discuss the various options with you and contact the individual estates accordingly. Your driver/guide will also take you to another estate, where a picnic lunch alongside a range of the Château’s smooth and velvety wines will be served. In the evening, a four course wine tasting dinner will be served in the hotel’s gourmet restaurant. The Chef, Romain Gondras offers a modern and innovative cuisine prepared with fresh ingredients and served in the elegant and traditionally-French dining room.
For those booking the four day break, your guide will return on the morning of day three and accompany you on a second day of tours, this time focusing on the Médoc and its majestic Châteaux with powerful Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Again, you are free to let us know your two favourite Châteaux and we will contact the estates on your behalf to arrange a visit for you. A three course lunch with drinks will be served on the tour in one of the best restaurants in the region, a renowned establishment in the heart of the Pauillac vineyards, owned by Château Lynch-Bages. The restaurant is closed on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, and will be substituted with a premium restaurant of equal standard in the event that your tour falls on these days.
