The Burgundy region is very picturesque and what a better way to explore the world-famous Burgundy vineyards than by walking from village to village, and tasting wines along the way? This package is based in the beautiful town of Beaune, the beating heart of Burgundy, and has been designed to introduce you to the different wine appellations of the region. Each day includes moderate level walking as well as some exclusive tours and tastings as well as delicious traditional meals.
Upon arrival to the capital of Burgundy wine, you will check into the 4* Hotel de la Poste, a 19th Century former coaching inn, perfectly located in the historical centre. To kickstart your discovery of the wines of the region we will arrange a tour and tasting at a highly-regarded winery in the town. Here, you will have the opportunity to tour the winery and taste six wines. The evening will then be free for you to do as you please.
After breakfast on day two, pop on your walking boots and check the weather forecast ready to be transported the short distance from your hotel to the village of Echevronne by a pre-booked and pre-paid taxi. You will firstly walk from the hamlet of Echevronne to Aloxe-Corton through the lovely village of Pernand-Vergelesses. The area is very picturesque and loved by walkers and hikers. The walk is approximately 5.5 km. You will thenvisit a premium domaine in Aloxe-Corton, the only village in Burgundy to boast both red and white Grand Cru wines. You will see their vineyards and historic cellars and conclude your visit with a four course lunch, accompanied by six wines. After lunch, walk to Savigny-lès-Beaune, one of the most charming villages in the region. The walk is approximately 4 km. Here, we will arrange a second tour and tastings for you to build on your knowledge of Burgundy wines and the wine-making process. At the end of the day, you will be taken back to your hotel. The evening will be free for you to do as you please. As always, we would be delighted to recommend a restaurant and reserve you a table for dinner if required.
After breakfast on day three you will again be collected from your hotel and transported into the vineyards. Today, we have designed another day of moderate level walking, this time through the famous villages of the Côte de Beaune and their surrounding countryside. Starting in the village of Meursault, walk 4.5 km amongst the vines to Puligny-Montrachet where you will be welcomed as the guests of one of the biggest names in the village. The experience will include an hour spent learning about the work in the vineyard before returning to their winery in the centre of the village where you will enjoy a tour of their estate. Following the tour, the group will transfer to their tasting rooms where a broad tasting of nine wines from the Côte de Beaune including Premier Cru wines will be offered alongside a delightful three course lunch. After lunch, take a short 2 km walk to the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, where we will arrange a tour and tasting at a second winery for you. After the tour, walk 4.5km to the lovely village of Santenay. From here, you will be taken back to your hotel. The evening will then be free for you to do as you please.
After breakfast on day four, you will be taken further along the Côte de Nuits wine route. You will firstly be dropped in Gevrey-Chambertin to walk to Vosne-Romanée. The walk is approximately 8.5 km and will take you past Morey-Saint-Denis, the village of Vougeot and its famous historic Château and the famous Romanée-Conti vineyards. After a delightful 3 course lunch in a traditional local restaurant in Vosne-Romanée, you will be welcomed at a premium winery in the village for a VIP tour, which will include a visit of the cellar, explanation of the wine-making process and tastings of five different wines produced at the estate. After the tour, walk just over 2 km to the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Here, we will arrange a tour and tastings at a local estate for you. Following the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel. The evening willthen be free for you to do as you please.
After a leisurely breakfast on day five, check out of the hotel.
