This two stops Piedmont and Lake Como break offers guests the opportunity to explore two iconic areas of Italy – the world-famous wine appellations of Barolo and Barbaresco as well as the picture-perfect pristine surroundings of Lake Como.
Once settled into your preferred room grade at the Albergo Cantine Ascheri, you will have some free time to relax and explore your surroundings. In the evening, we would be pleased to recommend a restaurant and reserve you a table for dinner if required.
On the morning of day two, you will be met at the hotel by a chauffeured vehicle, which will accompany you throughout the day in the UNESCO Classified Piedmont vineyards. You will firstly be welcomed at a boutique family-run winery for a guided tour of the cellars and a traditional lunch as the guests of the estates. Lunch will be served alongside a selection of the estate’s highly-regarded wines.
During the course of the day, you will also discover the stunning countryside, with some free time in the picturesque village of Castellinaldo d’Alba- an authentic Italian village with gorgeous churches and a charming castle.
Later in the afternoon, you will be taken to a premium Barolo winery for a tour and tastings of four different wines. Your chauffeur will then drive you to the municipality of Barolo, which is a must see, where you will have time to see the delightful castle. After such an enlightening day, enjoy a cheese and wine tasting including five cheeses paired with a local wine. The evening will be free for you to do as you please.
On the morning of day three, check out of your hotel. You will be taken to Como by a private chauffeured vehicle. The drive is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. Upon arrival in Como, check into your preferred room grade at the 4* Palace Hotel, ideally located on the shore of lake Como.
The remainder of day will be free for you to relax and explore independently. As always, we would be pleased to reserve you a table for dinner if required.
After breakfast on day four, you will be met at your hotel by a guide who will accompany you on a bike tour. You will start your itinerary by cycling on the shore of Lake Como. You will then cross the border to Switzerland and cycle through beautiful landscapes and Merlot vineyards. You will be taken to several villages offering splendid views over Lake Como. For lunch, you will be taken to a local winery where you will be able to sample traditional local dishes served with the estate’s wines. You will cycle back to your hotel in the afternoon. The evening will be free for you to do as you please.
After a leisurely breakfast on day five, check out of the hotel.
