Taste world-famous Burgundy wines on our fabulous three and four day Hidden Gem breaks at Château de Gilly. Our Hidden Gem breaks are based at lovely, quaint properties, and Château de Gilly is a historic property full of character, located in the absolute heart of the Grand Cru Côte de Nuits vineyards. Originally a residence for Cistercian Monks, the historically-listed Château d was transformed in 1988 into a luxury hotel. As part of this package you will enjoy informative tours and extensive tastings at premium Burgundy estates as well as sample traditional regional dishes, discovering for yourself what makes Burgundy such a unique place.
Upon arrival in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux, check into your Superior room at the 5* Château de Gilly. The remainder of the day will then be free for you to do as you please. In the evening, a four course gastronomic dinner will be served in the hotel’s gourmet restaurant. Please note that drinks have not been included as part of the package, and can be ordered and paid for locally.
On the morning of day two, electric bicycles will be delivered to the Château. Today, you will cycle through the charming vineyards of the Côte de Nuits. You will firstly cycle to the village of Aloxe-Corton, where you will be welcomed as the guests of the authentic family-owned Domaine Comte Sénard. Here, enjoy an insightful visit of the vineyard, Les Clos des Meix, as well as the 13th Century cellars. The visit will conclude with a traditional three course lunch, during which you will have the unique opportunity to taste six different wines, complemented further by comments from one the estate’s sommeliers. You will then cycle to Vosne-Romanée, where you will end your day in style with a VIP tour of a premium winery, which will include a visit of the cellars, explanation of the wine-making process and tastings of five different wines. Cycle back to the Château at the end of the day. We would be delighted to suggest a restaurant and reserve you a table for dinner if required this evening.
On the morning of day three, a pre-booked and pre-paid taxi will take you to the famous village of Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune, where you will be welcomed as the guests of one of the biggest names in the village. The experience will include an hour spent in the vineyards, learning all about the work undertaken here, before returning to the winery, where you will enjoy a tour of their estate and cellars. Following the tour, you will be invited into their tasting room, where a broad tasting of six wines from the Côte de Beaune will be offered alongside a delightful three course lunch. The owners and staff are very gracious hosts and the wine tastings and meal always prove both enjoyable and enlightening.
In the afternoon, your taxi will return to take you to the charming town of Beaune. Here, you will be welcomed at the estate of a renowned producer. As well as having a full tour of the winery, you will taste six wines from vineyards located in different Burgundy villages. You will be taken back to your hotel at the end of the day. As always, we would be pleased to reserve you a table for dinner if required.
After a leisurely breakfast on day four, check out of the hotel.
