As a UK-based company, the below information is particularly relevant to our UK customers. However, we are able to arrange trips for customers from across the globe! If you have any questions about travelling to your Champagne tour, please give us a call on +44 (0) 1920 46 86 66 or send us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Reims is located just 2 ½ hours’ drive from Calais and for customers based in London and the south-east of England, driving offers not only the most cost-effective but arguably the quickest way of travelling to Champagne. Not only that, but it also offers the most convenient way to transport any purchases back home!
With a crossing time of only 35 minutes from Folkestone to Calais, Eurotunnel offers the fastest channel crossing with your car. There are up to four trains per hour and no other operator offers a greater choice of departure times. Please contact us with your preferred dates and we will be delighted to provide you with a price for your crossings.
If you would prefer ferry crossings from Dover to Calais, this can also be arranged and the crossing time is 90 minutes. Our guests are free to choose their preferred departure and return times and with over 25 departures each day, we can usually book a crossing within 30 minutes of your ideal travel times if booked in advance.
If you would prefer to travel from an alternative UK port then we can often arrange this. Please contact us to discuss your preferred route and applicable prices.
For customers based in central London, travel by Eurostar is a quick way to travel to Champagne and for many other customers, the comfort and speed of modern international rail plus the virtues of carbon-neutral travel combine to make travel by Eurostar and onward TGV (French high speed intercity rail) an attractive option. Departures are currently available from London St Pancras and Ebbsfleet and Ashford in Kent. The journey time from London to Paris Nord is around 2 hours 20 minutes and the onward journey from Paris Est to Reims takes just 45 minutes.
We are happy to book your Eurostar and onward TGV at the best available fare and add this fare to the cost of your weekend. The lowest price for the return journey from London to Reims in standard class is £89 per person; however this fare is, in practice, very hard to achieve and is rarely available for travel at the most popular times (e.g. Fridays and Sunday afternoons / evenings). A more realistic estimate for weekend travel would be between £104 and £199 per person if booked well in advance or up to £309 per person for very busy weekends if booked close to the departure date.
Travel in Standard Premier on the Eurostar and First Class on the onward TGV starts from £209 per person. For this price, guests enjoy wider, more comfortable seating on both trains, a power socket next to their seat, a selection of magazines and newspapers and a complimentary light meal and drinks on the Eurostar in each direction.
The definitive cost of your Eurostar travel can be confirmed 120 days before you travel, when the tickets are released. Please contact us to request some detailed information with hints and tips for obtaining the best-priced tickets.
Paris is very well served by flights from the UK and indeed around the world. For the easiest access to Champagne, we recommend that you fly into Paris Charles de Gaulle although Paris Orly is also suitable if you want to make the onward journey by private chauffeur. Grape Escapes is ATOL registered, number 10831 and we would be happy to book your flights for you. The airport is situated around 30-60 minutes’ train ride from Reims or a two hour drive.
There are direct trains from Paris Gare de l’Est to Reims and trains from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to Reims, which go via the Champagne-Ardenne. Both journeys take around 45 minutes.
For the executive experience, we can arrange for a private chauffeured MPV to meet you upon arrival at Paris CDG or Orly and escort you directly to your hotel in Reims. Simply let us know your flight details and we will do the rest. The journey time is between 80 and 100 minutes depending on the time of day and traffic conditions.
If you prefer the freedom of having a car during your stay in Champagne, the drive from Paris CDG or Paris Orly to Reims will take around 1 ½ hours. If you wish to book your hire car via Grape Escapes then please click here for a personalised quotation.
The bottom line is that is was fantastic. I have been on a number of tours and tastings over the years but this was by far the best. Thank you for organising it for me!
